ConfirmationCandidates Outing

Again, this year it was time for a small get together, outing in outside vienna with the future confirmants - the candidates. In a monastery to be exact. The weekend march 13 to march 14 was a weekend worth remembering.

Just a short intro: Here in Vienna, the holy confirmation is not as simple and short like in the philippines. The youth need to attend a seminar which usually starts in november until april. And they meet every saturday and talk about life, god and life. Some of you might say that 5 months is way too long and it's a waste of time. Well actually, sometimes these 5 months are not enough. There are topics that are really interesting and often there are debates. We have one main leader, Sis. Herta. She's austrian but can speak english and tagalog. All hands for a brighter future for the youth. Understanding and very kind person. And then we have ate Astrid, someone who pours out her whole heart into this. Despite the busy schedule, because she is a full-time worker, she finds the time and patience to gather the other people and work on the projects, meet every saturday. Truly an inspiration to me :) She doesn't know this though :))

But it's not based on the individuals. It's important to have a great crew who can work together and be really diligent. You need to have interest and the love for this work, this project, the seminar.

I have to admit that this time I wasn't able to be with them. Last year was my first time that I was with the group every saturday but this year I couldn't because I have work every Saturday. I really miss it, every year it's a new lesson, new experiences. I can witness the different generations of the youth. The youth 4 years ago are not comparable to the youth nowadays. Anywho, back to that weekend.

After work I went to the place even though I missed a lot of programme and knew that the "kids" didn't know me. Some did, because I was the one who guided them on being an altar servant (Yes, I've been in the "business" for quite some time) I had my expectations, like last year. I can't go there with no expectations. But my expectations were worse than what happened in that weekend. I have to admit that I am already traumatized with what happened last year. As I said I thought the generations are getting worse from year to year. But this year it wasn't. In short I was pretty happy and relieved to have worked with these "kids" and be able to join them.

The main topic was about praying. One of my most favourite topic. Where I can talk and discuss about for a longer time of period. The most exciting things as always were the creative part. We had to read verses in the bible and had to share it with the other group members. There were different groups. It was fun! New friendships were build, some left their "shell" and were more outgoing persons. The highlight of the day as always was sunday, because some didn't get enough sleep, some did.

They are the ones who made this weekend possible and fun. Our partners! Yes we are a lot. They spice up the group. It's good to have them. So the confirmation candidates can open up to fellow youth. Some are shy to talk with the older ones, with me for example. They say I'm pretty serious and strict haha!
You become an assistant after you have had your own holy confirmation. For a change they find out on their own what we have to go through, which challenges and responsibilities we have.
But hands down to them. They are really obedient and followed the rules and everytime was unclear to them they asked us what they should do (Y)... Keep it up guys, you're walking the right path!!! =)

These are the confirmation candidates! .. They are really nice people!! :) They are filled with so much talent, joy and happiness in life. Now that they found each other, I pray that they'll stay in the community and continue inspire other youth/kids and be a good example. They may not know that there are some "younger" Youths looking up to them, but there's always someone who's idolising you.
May GOD bless the road they'll be walking. Have faith in him!

I love doing this job, it's refreshing. I love working with other people. An awesome weekend is ONLY possible if you have awesome people you can work with. I am looking forward for next year!

Last but not least, I really hope that the youth will find the right path and realise that they are not alone. Even if they feel lonely and a loser to some. It takes some time to accept things as they come, to accept that everything that happens there's a reason. But With GOD in your heart, you're a superstar.

Love, Maj.

Hello world I am back

Hello Blogspot World, I am back. I don't know exactly if anyone follows my blog. But I missed writing in here. So I thought why not come back and let your mind talk. Here I am, sitting in my room listening to Justin Bieber and typing. As I've checked my last post was January 2012. That's a loooooong time. In this one year and almost a half SO MANY things happened. Yet everytime when friends ask me what I have been up to, I tell them "nothing special". Maybe because it is not that interesting to update them. Wait let me think: Last year I started with Basketball, then joined the Vienna Avengers, a group of ladies who didn't know each other AT ALL but managed to win the Filipino Basketball in Wien Championship. A S E V E N - zero. I am not bragging, but I also received individual trophies. Three officials and one inofficial. MVP 2013! :-) Dreams do come true. I never - in my wildest imaginations - thought of becoming the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. Actually Bask...

Charmaine Garcia - My "inaanak sa kumpil"

Today, April 25 2009 I have a new responsibility. As I take some things, if not everything very serious (well I have a wacky side too) I am now responsible for someONE. When I was in the church I actually (honestly) didn't realize that I am going to be a Ninang of somone who isn't actually related to me. I already have two inaanaks (Godchilds) but my very first Godchild is actually my cousin - first degree - and the second one, my pamangkin sa pinsan :-) I'm glad that the parents picked me .. but now it's different, because Charmaine has chosen me to be her Ninang. Maybe because I am cool and chill haha, kidding. I don't know why, but she has her own reasons why she picked me to be her Ninang. (I really think because I am cool and chill ) Kaya, it actually didn't sink in when we celebrated her confirmation or when she received her confirmation and kumpareng (haha) Kuya Allen and I were behind her, guiding her to the front. Since I was a bit stressed with the c...
