Where did your name come from?

Have you ever asked yourself why you got that name from your parents? The reasons? Why exactly this spelling, why that kind of order? I did ask my parents before and made my own conclusion about it.

Where does my name come from? My whole name is: Majerel Kim A A. The first A. is my middle name, the maiden name of my mom. I decided to include that name everytime I write my name on a sheet of paper.

As for "Majerel" which is a very unique name, it was my moms idea to give me that name. It is actually a haircolor of L'oreal . It's original spelling is Majirel. But my father didn't want to have that "I" after the "J". He wanted an "e" instead, so my brother and I have the similar spelling. Originally it's supposed to be "Majereel" and "Jezreel". But thank God, it's not like that hehe. And Kim, my father decided to name me Kim. My mom said something because his Ex's name was Kim, but I don't believe her. Who would allow to call it's child after an exgirlfriend or exboyfriend. haha!
I wonder why my brother got such a holy name Jezreel Aiphraim. If you look it up in the bible it's actually a place in Jerusalem, a river? or something like that. The correct spelling in the bible is Jesrel Efraim. See my parents are oh-so creative in thinking of names.

It's red brownish. My mom is using that haircolor right now for her hair.

Anyway, back to my name. I have had so many experiences with my name, as for pronounciation, spelling and correct order of my name.
For pronounciation I found a good pronounciation for the german speaking people: mayerelle.
I still don't know how to explain it for english speaking people, the original pronounciation.

In school my teacher thought that Kim is my surname, for example my english professor, for 4 years he thought Kim was my family name, and Majerel my first name. As for my real family name? I actually don't know what he thought, maybe some decoration on his paper, for 4 long years. He is definitely unique, hehe.

Friends of mine started calling me "Maj, Maji or jerel" because they find it so long, these 7 letters, but I don't mind calling me that way. As for my cousins, some call me Kim, some Majerel, but some really some cousins STILL (this is the big revelation, noone, or only a few of people know this) call me "Ate Mutya". Why? Because I was the first born girl after 5 boys (my moms side). My grandfather, who died exactly 4 months after I was born decided and told the whole world (well whole kamaganak) that everyone should call me Mutya. I used to hate that name, because people would think that I'm such a vain person and beautiful girl. Time passes and I learned to accept that name, because it was my grandfather who gave me that name, obviously he was pretty much proud of my mom and father for giving him a granddaughter. He didn't meet or see me, though I know that tatay is watching over me eversince he entered heaven. Everytime I fly to the Philippines my grandaunt remembers me that I am the only Mutya in the family. It makes me actually proud. I was ashamed before, but now I'll teach my inaanaks to call me Ninang Mutya...But only my cousins from my mommys side.

I joined my cousins to paint the names infront of my lolo's place and yes I am the only girl who wrote the name and also in the largest font of all!

My other family, cousins from the father side still - not all, but most of them - still call me "ate Kim". I still haven't figured out why, maybe because my father gave me the name Kim? I don't know, but not everyone or nearly nobody knows me as Majerel. But if you say Kim they know, that this kid is the grandchild of Cleto A. or even say anak ni ruding. (daughter of ruding) My father's name is Rey, but everyone in the Philippines call him Ruding - I don't know why.

Anyways, so how do my parents call me and my titas and titos? .. I think everyone who is from Batangas knows this. They all still call me Ineng. My mom and dad call me that way.
Only when they are mad at me they scream MAJEREL. So that's pretty embarrasing when you are outside and my mom says "Ineng do you want this". Ineng actually means "Little Girl" or something like that. They've been calling me like that eversince and I wonder WHEN they'll stop calling me that way. Sometimes my mom is calling me also bunso. Meaning the youngest. Why do they give me names, when they don't stick to them? Haha, I am just kidding. Sometimes I enjoy it when I am being called like that, because when I am in the Philippines and I am with my cousins and for example one Tita says "Ineng". Three girls - Lei, Paoline and me - are looking and asking who they mean. Hehe, it's funny but also confusing. Everytime my Tita tells us to get something noone of us is listening at her because we don't know who she is actually calling.

I guess I will always be their bunso and ineng. My Kuya doesn't call me Ineng, Bunso or Majerel, he calls me "hoy". haha

So that's the story behind the MAJEREL KIM A.A.

I'll make sure that if ever someday when I have my own children, that their names will be special and as unique as possible too. Their name should have a history, a personal one - so when they ask me why I gave them that name, I have a good explanation for it. I am actually already trained, I gave my two inaanaks their names. Myshia Jasiel A. and Nethanya Jhaelyn Anne A. Confusing spelling, I know ..someday when they ask me WHY they got that kind of names, I'll make sure that I got a good explanation.

What's the story behind your name?

Tell me =) I definetely want to know.

Hello world I am back

Hello Blogspot World, I am back. I don't know exactly if anyone follows my blog. But I missed writing in here. So I thought why not come back and let your mind talk. Here I am, sitting in my room listening to Justin Bieber and typing. As I've checked my last post was January 2012. That's a loooooong time. In this one year and almost a half SO MANY things happened. Yet everytime when friends ask me what I have been up to, I tell them "nothing special". Maybe because it is not that interesting to update them. Wait let me think: Last year I started with Basketball, then joined the Vienna Avengers, a group of ladies who didn't know each other AT ALL but managed to win the Filipino Basketball in Wien Championship. A S E V E N - zero. I am not bragging, but I also received individual trophies. Three officials and one inofficial. MVP 2013! :-) Dreams do come true. I never - in my wildest imaginations - thought of becoming the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. Actually Bask...

Charmaine Garcia - My "inaanak sa kumpil"

Today, April 25 2009 I have a new responsibility. As I take some things, if not everything very serious (well I have a wacky side too) I am now responsible for someONE. When I was in the church I actually (honestly) didn't realize that I am going to be a Ninang of somone who isn't actually related to me. I already have two inaanaks (Godchilds) but my very first Godchild is actually my cousin - first degree - and the second one, my pamangkin sa pinsan :-) I'm glad that the parents picked me .. but now it's different, because Charmaine has chosen me to be her Ninang. Maybe because I am cool and chill haha, kidding. I don't know why, but she has her own reasons why she picked me to be her Ninang. (I really think because I am cool and chill ) Kaya, it actually didn't sink in when we celebrated her confirmation or when she received her confirmation and kumpareng (haha) Kuya Allen and I were behind her, guiding her to the front. Since I was a bit stressed with the c...
